The Los Angeles Marathon is complete, and Team EPI is proud to reflect on a journey defined by purpose, perseverance, and community.
What began as a commitment to run and raise funds for Parkinson’s research became something far greater. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our supporters, Team EPI not only met our original fundraising goal of $25,000, but exceeded it by an additional $16,825, raising a total of $41,825 in support of Team Fox, the grassroots fundraising arm of The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
The energy and support we experienced throughout the Los Angeles Marathon weekend was incredibly inspiring. Because of that momentum, Team EPI has decided to keep the fundraising effort going. Our community has already accomplished something extraordinary, and we are excited to see if we can take this impact even further by reaching or even exceeding a new stretch goal of $50,000 in support of Team Fox.
Every dollar raised represents hope, progress, and continued momentum toward improved treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
More Than a Race
This marathon was more than training miles or crossing a finish line. It was about showing up consistently, leaning on one another, and running with intention. Team EPI trained across Los Angeles, supported one another through early morning training, and stayed focused on the purpose behind every step.
The encouragement from our community played a vital role throughout this journey. From donations and messages of support to sharing our story, every action contributed to the success of this effort.
EPI Construction President Gary Blackwell reflected on what this experience meant to him personally.
“This journey reminded me that progress is made through consistency, movement, and community. Crossing the finish line was meaningful, but knowing we did it together for a cause that matters made it unforgettable. I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported this effort.”
Turning Effort into Impact
Surpassing our fundraising goal allows Team Fox, the grassroots fundraising arm of The Michael J. Fox Foundation to continue advancing critical research, supporting innovative treatments, and improving the lives of those affected by Parkinson’s disease. While race day marked an important milestone, the impact of this collective effort will extend far beyond the marathon.
This experience reinforced what is possible when people come together around a shared purpose. It also strengthened our commitment to staying engaged, raising awareness, and supporting causes that matter to our community.
